As part of the Archdiocesan response to the scandal of sexual abuse of children in the Church,the Archdiocesan Office of Child Advocacy,Implementation and Oversight has launched a yearly mandatory education program that focuses on teaching children basic skills that will help keep them safe in a variety of situations. The curriculum is based on national child safty programs,adapted to incorporate and embrace the message of our Catholic faith to love God,others and ourselves.
CHILD SAFE ENVIRONMENT PROGRAM
All children will participate in a Safety Program:Keeping Children Safe during two of their January class times.
This program will be led by trained facilitators and will help children to recognize appropriate and inappropriate contact with adults and help them to develop the skills to communicate with parents and caregivers.
Parents may elect to have their child not attend these sessions.
