The League of Women Voters is a group of women
and men of all ages and backgrounds with the common interest of
"Making Democracy Work".
- You are committed to promoting democracy and
creating a more just society.
- You believe citizens should be fully informed
before they vote and should actively participate in government.
- You want to support a nonpartisan organization
that works to increase understanding of major public policy issues
and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
- You support educating policymakers and the general
public on pressing issues facing our Town, state and nation.
- You want to help citizens have their voices heard
at the local, state and national levels.
- You believe issues should be studied fairly and
objectively, without partisan vested interests.
- You want to help make a difference in our community,
state and country.
- You want to be part of a network of people who
have the same interests as you.
- You want to be support the work of our nation's
premier grassroots citizen organization right here in Westford.
Your membership is an important way to support these
ideals whether you participate through volunteer opportunities or
simply send in your annual dues.
League work is divided into 1)voter service and
citizen education and 2) program and action. The League prepares
neutral information on candidates and the electoral process and
also lobbies for changes in law and governmental policy. There are
plenty of opportunities to get as involved as your time allows.
The League exists on three
levels: national, state,
and local. A member of a local League
automatically becomes a member of the state and national Leagues
and receives their publications. These three levels are all part
of the same organization. Visit About Us
to learn more about the League.
Please fill
out a form and mail it in. We will contact you, welcome you
and discuss your interests.
