Why We
Think Troop 591 Is UniqueHere are some of the considerations that scouts and parents have
told us make Troop 591 right for them:
- Experienced Scout Leadership - we have great depth in
our scout leadership.
- Involved Adult Guidance - adults are active in the
troop, but not in leading it. They let the scouts
design and run the programs -- and make their own mistakes.
The adults are there to make sure everyone stays safe and offer
guidance when necessary.
- Active programs for scouts of all ages and ranks - we
don't just focus on older venturing activities, but rather
well-balanced programs that offer challenges and fun for scouts of
all abilities and ranks.
- True mentoring of scouts by scouts - by mixing scouts
of all ages in the patrols, we offer additional opportunities for
younger scouts to learn from older scouts -- and for older scouts
to demonstrate leadership.
- Community service - we have a focus on community
service and giving back. Our scouts seek out worthy projects
including clearing trails and working at local food banks.
Our Patrols
We currently have
2 patrols -- the ".coms" and the "Ice Dragons,"
each with scouts ranging from 11 to 17. New scouts learn to
cook and help out in the patrol during campouts and other patrol
activities from the older scouts.
