Camp Wah-Tut-Ca 2006
Camp Wa-Tut-cA was
very eventful this year. Outpost was awesome, especially with all
the satellites and shooting stars. The Polar Bear swim was fun, even
though we didn’t get the special area. We won the five 591 staff
members in the auction for $200!! We had Stephen personally teach us
how to do gimp. With all the people in our Troop doing E-sci, the
all night work fest was packed! It’s too bad that we didn’t get to
play the water balloon prank on the staff. All in all, I think
everyone had a great time.
Half a week before,
a microburst hit that area of New Hampshire. The trading post was
completely flattened, along with many tents. Thankfully, Shanawanda
was not as damaged as some of the other campsites. There was logging
equipment everywhere! As a service project, our troop helped to
clean up the remains of the trading post, which is now in the
visitor’s center. Because of all the trees down in the area of the
trading post, we weren’t able to use the amphitheater place where
the opening and closing ceremonies are usually held. Instead, they
took place down by the lake, in front of the polar swim area. Even
though it was somewhat inconvenient, the results were cool to see.
Camp Wa-Tut-Ca 2006
was really fun and I hope next year will be even better!
