Westford Wheelers Ride for the American Diabetes Association
The Westford Wheelers are on a mission—they want to help make the 6th annual American Diabetes Association (ADA)’s Ocean State 150 bike ride, scheduled for June 11 and 12, 2005, in Narragansett, R.I., bigger and better than ever. To do that, preparations for the ride will begin shortly after the holidays.

An informational night will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at the J.V. Fletcher Library, 50 Main St., Westford, Mass., at 7 p.m.. Bill Seldon, Curtis Johnson and other Westford Wheelers team members will explain the team’s goals for the 2005 ride. Dennis Howland, senior market director, also will be on hand to talk about the ADA’s mission and review the particulars of the Ocean State 150. And, if you need an incentive for coming out on a cold, chilly night, all riders who sign up for the ride that evening will receive a free team T-shirt.

The Ocean State 150 serves as a major fundraiser for the Rhode Island ADA and helps the organization increase awareness about this terrible disease. More than 18 million Americans have diabetes, though more than one-third of those people aren’t even aware they have the disease. Funds raised will help continue the research, education and advocacy efforts of the American Diabetes Association.
