The Westford Parent Connection is celebrating its fourteenth anniversary during the 2014–2015 school year. The WPC was formed in 2001 to provide Westford parents and guardians enrichment and educational events to help address a variety of social and emotional issues pertaining to their children's development. The WPC works collaboratively with groups throughout the community, to ensure we address the right topics at the right time. We are grateful for the support from the Westford Public Schools, the Westford Health Department, the Roudenbush Community Center, the Westford Elementary PTO, and the Westford Middle School PTO. To learn more about the organization, contact WPC President Mary Anne Seraphin at email@example.com.
Meet The World’s First Mediatrician
Dr. Michael Rich, associate professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and of Society, Human Development, and Health at Harvard School of Public Health, came to medicine after more than a decade as a filmmaker. His current areas of research and clinical work as director of the Center On Media And Child Health – combined with his unique experience and expertise in medicine and media – make him the world’s first mediatrician. Dr. Rich will present Finding Huck Finn: Reclaiming Childhood From A River of Electronic Screens Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. at the Stony Brook Middle School, 9 Farmer Way, Westford.
Dr. Rich uses scientific evidence about the powerful positive and negative effects of media to advise children and those who care for and about them on how to use media in ways that optimize development and learning.
Dr. Rich’s talk will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Stony Brook Middle School, 9 Farmer Way, Westford, MA. The event is free and open to the public through the generosity of the Westford Parent Connection’s many sponsors.
